Program Overview

The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to work as supportive personnel for hospital and community pharmacies. The pharmacy technician provides assistance to the pharmacist in a variety of technical tasks involving the packaging, distribution, compounding (mixing together), labeling and recording of drugs. Through a cooperative agreement with Lakeshore Technical College (LTC) residents of Western Technical College's district may enroll in the program and take all classes at Western. Lecture courses originating from LTC are offered at Western by way of interactive television. Lab instruction and clinical experience are at district hospital pharmacies where experienced professionals will guide the students in performing various tasks designated and supervised by LTC faculty. To apply for the Pharmacy Technician Program, all application materials--application, fee, high school and college transcripts, and testing scores--must be sent to: Lakeshore Technical College, Office of Admissions, 1290 North Avenue, Cleveland, WI 53015. An application only should be submitted to Western Technical College.
